I'm Ricardo. I've been in IT since 1999. Over 25 years across help desks, network operations, systems analysis, and enterprise infrastructure. Today I'm a Senior Business Systems Administrator at EOG Resources, where I manage VMware vSphere clusters, NetApp ONTAP storage arrays, Veeam backup infrastructure, and Horizon VDI farms. That's 500+ VMs running across oil & gas field operations in South Texas.

On a typical day I'm provisioning ESXi hosts, managing vCenter datastores, configuring DRS and HA policies, troubleshooting SnapMirror replication, or tuning Veeam backup jobs. I manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server environments alongside RHEL Linux boxes. I write PowerShell and Bash scripts to automate anything I have to do more than twice.

I built a custom oil spill detection camera system from scratch and deployed it to remote field sites. I design monitoring pipelines. Telegraf agents feeding InfluxDB with Grafana dashboards on top, pulling metrics via SNMP, WMI, and custom collectors.

Outside of work, I build web applications. Construction calculators, accessibility scanners, SaaS platforms, client websites. Next.js, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL. I'm drawn to solving real problems with clean code and sharp design. This site is where those two worlds meet.
